End of current (up to FY2024) ChemOffice/ChemDraw offerings and future offerings

2025-02-25

Due to changes in vendor policies for ChemOffice/ChemDraw currently contracted by Center for Information Infrastructure, the method of distribution within Science Tokyo will change significantly beginning in FY2025. Currently, users can apply for use of the application on Tokyo Tech's dedicated registration site using an e-mail address with an approved domain, and the application is automatically approved and can begin to be used. However, this system will be eliminated starting in FY2025.

The new system will have a new tenant for each university, and the tenant administrator (CII staff) will manually enter user information for registration and deletion. This has necessitated a drastic change in the way registration is handled within Science Tokyo.

The changes are as follows, with the first and third having the greatest impact on users.

  1. ChemDraw products distributed under the current agreement will no longer be serviced and supported at the end of FY2024. You will no longer be able to apply for use, download, or activate them. There will be a grace period for activated products, which will be available until the end of September 2025 (six months after the end of the contract).
  2. Under the new agreement, users will be arranged on a per laboratory basis and apply to CII. The tenant manager at CII will register the users. Users who have not applied for the software will be deleted each fiscal year. Users download the software from the tenant and activate it with their registered account.
  3. Undergraduate students who are not affiliated with a laboratory will not be able to use ChemDraw, since CII has no information and cannot manage users based on their enrollment for each application.
If there is an organization that coordinates and manages users on their behalf (or a teacher in the class for class use), there is a possibility of accepting a bulk application from such an organization in the future.
  4. Signals ChemDraw comes with usage rights for ChemDraw+( Cloud version) and Signals Notebook standard Edition.

Instructions on how to use ChemDraw in FY2025 will be provided later.
